To my darling Katie,

How I will miss your love, so innocent and pure.  And how I will miss the joy you showed when I'd get home and open the door. You'd greet me with your favorite toy, so excited and eager to play.  And no matter how I was feeling, you always made my day. You looked at me with eyes so wide and eyes so filled with love.  And even when I wouldn't play, you never held a grudge.  Though you never spoke a word, you always made yourself so clear.  Those big brown eyes, that silly look, I always knew, my dear.

For many years, you never knew the world held any harm.  You didn't know of illness and you didn't know of pain.  The only thing you didn't like was walking in the rain.
But even when the bad times came, my darling, you were brave.  In spite of  how hard the struggle was, all you had left, you gave.  You filled our home with love and joy and a little mischief too and for all of my remaining days, my heart is one with you.
We've grown so close in mind and heart that it seems so cruel for us to part yet the bond we share can never end, my darling Katie, my angel, my friend.

I place you now in the hands of God to care for and protect you.  I ask for a loved one too to play you favorite sock tug with  you and let you win so you think you're though and to love you and spoil you, my darling friend, until it's my pleasure to do so again.
